If pseudorandom pink noise is selected and the "Drop Data Window" box is checked in Signal Generator Options, the FFT data window will be dropped and the noise cycle length will automatically change to match impulse response FFT size for all subsequent impulse response measurements. Also, a new "Drop Data Window" has been added when using sync noise. Within the Impulse Response mode, any data from the All Bands table can now be viewed on a Histogram plot in either bar or line graph formats. A "Quick Compare" feature has also been added for transfer function measurements which captures a copy of the top transfer function trace and stores the inverse in memory as a weighting curve, allowing it to be quickly applied as a global weighting curve to all live transfer function measurements.

Notable among the feature additions in Smaart v.7.5 is the addition of "Target Curves" on RTA plots allowing ASCII traces such as the X curve (used in cinema tunings) to be imported into Smaart and displayed in a static position on the RTA plot to serve as a visual target or threshold for single channel measurements. This is a free update and is recommended for all Smaart v.7 users. Smaart v7.5 includes significant feature additions, usability enhancements, interface modifications and important bug fixes.

It’s worth it.The new Smaart v.7.5 Rational Acoustics has released the fifth major version update for Smaart v.7. If you buy one of these, spend the extra money to get the calibration file. Because the mic comes with a calibration file, you can load the file directly into SMAART 7 or SMAART 7 DI and have a ruler flat measurement rig without spending a bunch of money. Your phase trace will be 180 degrees out when using this mic so keep that in mind. IMPORTANT! This mic is wired from the factory as PIN 3 hot. Housing diameter at capsule : 10 mm (approx. Sensitivity : -63 dB ± 3 dB ( 0 dB=1V/ microbar 1,000 Hz indicated by open circuit ) Operating Voltage : 9 – 52V DC Phantom Power Please Note: The RTA-420 may be powered by 9 to 52 V phantom supplies, and like it’s predecessor it is PIN 3 HOT. Whether you’re a student or just starting out in the business, or an established pro looking for a backup mic for your kit, putting together a “B” rig or you want to be able to put up multiple mic’s in large venues without taking out a second mortgage, the RTA-420 offers very respectable frequency response and solid, road-worthy construction at an exceptionally affordable price.
